CNLP Program - Recertifying Applicants
Who is this for: Your certification is due for its three-year renewal. Check the expiration date on your certificate or business card.
Deadlines: If your certification expires December 31st, you have until March 31 of the following year to submit paperwork. Recertifications are process in weekly batches. If you didn't get a renewal notice but think you're due, please contact the office.
You have two ways to recertify — choose one:
Option A: Continuing Education Credits
- Earn a minimum of 30 credits over your three-year cycle (at least 20 must come from education programs, not networking events)
- Eligible credit sources include regional education and trade shows, Work Smarter Not Harder webinars, Leadership Forum, CNLP Day, DEC pesticide applicator credit programs, ISA, NCMA, ASLA, and ICPI education, Cornell Cooperative Extension horticulture programs, and CNLP review/training sessions (as student or teacher)
- Networking events and trade shows count for 1 credit each
- Track your credits online through your CNLP dashboard (contact the office if you need login access
Option B: Open-Book Exam
- A 100-question written test based on the CNLP Manual
- We'll mail it to you once we receive your Recertification Application and fee
Recertify now: Download the CNLP Recertification Application (PDF), fill it out and return it PlantNYS headquarters with the application fee — scan and email it with a credit card number, or mail it in with a check to PO Box 215, Cambridge, NY, 12816.
Fastest option: Recertify online
Log in to the CNLP Portal using your email address. Any CEUs you've already earned and reported (in 2026) are already on file there — you can view what's recorded and add any additional credits before submitting.
Then fill out the online Recertification Form
* This login is for existing CNLPs renewing their own certification only* Please don't use it to register a new CNLP candidate — if you're applying for the first time, please click back and follow the 'New CNLP' link. In most cases, your username is your email address. You can reset your password from the login page. Please contact our office if you need assistance with logging in.
